Event description

Landcare ACT's Women in Nature program invites you to connect with and care for nature through WELLSPRING - a series of nature connection activities set to run weekly throughout the spring season (Sept/Oct/Nov) including guided walks, talks, nature-based art sessions, and hands-on conservation activities. This series will run alongside the Canberra Festival of Nature, this year's theme being Glorious Grasslands. The WELLSPRING series celebrates women actively caring for or connecting with nature across the Canberra region, whilst inspiring others to engage in citizen science and environmental stewardship.

Toni Hassan is a multimedia visual artist and writer based in Canberra. An experienced community engagement facilitator, Toni generously shares her insights, curiosity, and delight in nature by providing led drawing exercises that help people see and be in their surroundings.

Drawing is a way to connect with our surroundings, a way to feel more at one with nature. Join Toni to make your mark in the landscape with drawing sessions en plein air (in the open air!)  No prior art experience is required, the idea is to find your own entry points into drawing by keeping it simple.

Sessions will take place 10am - 12pm on the third Wednesday of each month in Spring, across various locations across Canberra. This session will take place in the grounds and peninsula area surrounding the National Museum of Australia, and outer edge of the ANU campus.

Wayfinding:
We will meet at the National Museum of Australia carpark (at the entry end) nearby the red carpet sculpture known as "The Uluru Line"
Look out for the Landcare ACT A-Frame sign. Please arrive just before 10am so we can make the most of our time together.

What to Wear/Bring
All drawing materials will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own if preferred.
Bring a portable/foldable stool if you have one - something easy to carry! If you don't have one, we have a number of low stools we can lend out for the session.
Please wear enclosed shoes and dress for the weather conditions. Be sunwise and bring a water bottle to keep hydrated.

If you have any questions you can reach out to Sally at Landcare ACT via email to wellbeing@landcareact.org.au
