Event description

In this fun and very interactive workshop, we will explore a crossover of sound and visual art. There is no art experience necessary - this is for all skill levels and is a comfortable and welcoming space to come play with a process and not worry about achieving any "perfect" end results.

In this hour and a half workshop you will be guided through multiple sessions of live music being played. Instruments used will vary - everything from all sorts of percussion, singing bowls, didgeridoo, guitar, plus a range of assorted instruments from all over the world. You will tune into the sound and let it be the rhythm that guides your pencil strokes and color choices. Before you know it, shapes and designs will come forth on your paper that you never could have imagined, and each will become a surprising unique visual record of that moment you experienced with sound.

This class is led by Geoffrey Lamden and Catherine Brown. Geoffrey is a sound therapist with over 30 years of working as a professional musician. Catherine has a degree in Visual Arts and worked many years in the contemporary art world, both as a curator in museums and as an artists who sold her work in galleries, but her true passion is offering energy work to support clients on a path of healing.  She and Geoffrey offer a playful approach to art - they offer a creative environment where the mind gets encouraged to step aside and rest for a bit and the heart and intuition can take the lead.

Bring multiple sheets of paper, a pencil or pen, and then any colored pencils or watercolors or crayons or markers that you may want for adding color.
