    About this event

This event is for anyone who has expressed interest in attending the CMIP7 Evaluation Hackathon (being held March 12-14 in Aspendale, VIC – details and registration link here). The session will be led by Dr Romain Beucher, ACCESS-NRI's Model Evaluation and Diagnostics (MED) Team Lead. He will present a brief introduction to the goals and sessions of the hackathon, as well as a brief overview of the ESMValTool-workflow, which will be one of the main topics at the hackathon.

After the introductory presentations from Romain, the remainder of the time will be an informal Q&A/discussion where attendees can ask questions and share ideas about the hackathon and ESMValTool. The aims of this session are:

    1. to help potential attendees of the hackathon get started using ESMValTool on NCI so that they can make the most of the trainings and discussions during the hackathon.
    2. to gather ideas and suggested topics to kick-start discussions at the hackathon.

For background, the Earth System Model Evaluation Tool (ESMValTool) is an open-source community-developed diagnostics and performance metrics tool for the evaluation and analysis of Earth System Models (ESMs). The ESMValTool-workflow is the ACCESS-NRI supported workflow for running the ESMValTool at NCI, and includes the ESMValTool Python package and collection of recipes, diagnostics and observational datasets. It is also configured to leverage the existing CMIP data collections at NCI.
