Event description

Druids Of Oz at The English Ale is back, with presenters Julie Brett and Kate Broderick.

Julie Brett - A Wheel of the year for Adelaide. In this workshop we will discuss creating a wheel of the year for the Adelaide and the Hills region. Julie will discuss her research which has resulted in an artwork she has created for the area. The idea being to share the process of its creation, explain the meanings within the artwork, and discuss potentials for adjustment and refinement of the design with the local community.

Kate Broderick - Community Circle. What does it mean to be a Druid in present day Australia? Join Kate for a collective journey through the joys and challenges of Druidic practice in this beautiful southern land, and share perspectives on the role of a Druid in modern culture amidst the backdrop of the current tumultuous world.

Julie Brett is the author of the books ‘Australian Druidry: Connecting with the sacred landscape’ 2017 and ‘Belonging to the Earth: Nature Spirituality in a changing world’ 2022 in which she explores adapting the Celtic nature spirituality of Druidry to the unique landscapes, communities and histories of Australia. She is a teacher of nature journaling and creating local wheels of the year. She is also the founder of Druids Down Under and an active member of the Australian Druid community. She resides in the Blue Mountains of NSW in Dharug and Gundungurra Country, but has often visited the South Australian Druid community.

Kate is a Druid and member of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. She has worked with multiple nature-based philosophies and elemental systems for the past 25 years, including Druidry, Taoism/Chinese Medicine, Western Astrology, and Buddhist and Native American perspectives, with an Animistic and Shamanic approach. Kate’s daily work is in the practice of naturopathic medicine and vibrational/sound healing, empowering folks to heal themselves, body, mind, emotions and spirit, in synergy with nature’s vast healing power.
