Event description

Discover dry point etching and monotype printmaking techniques in this immersive 6-week course with Cecilia Jacobs.

In the first three weeks you will be introduced to dry point etching techniques and processes from scratching, inking and wiping to create subtle variations in light and shadows. In the following weeks you will be introduced to a different method of printmaking called monotypes exploring positive and negative space. Learn how to use both additive (applying ink) and subtractive (removing ink) methods.

By the end of the six weeks, you will have produced a series of prints to take home and have acquired essential skills and best practice to continue printmaking. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn new skills or an experienced artist looking to expand your knowledge, this course will provide the techniques and creative inspiration to bring your ideas to life.

You will be guided along the way with expert advice by Cecilia Jacobs, a visual artist specialising in printmaking. Cecilia's process-based prints navigate a space between nature and abstraction, as she uses printmaking as a vital tool for her practice. Now predominantly working in copper plate etching and monotype, Cecilia also has a vast knowledge on relief printing and has taught various workshops.

All materials are provided including a set paper limit per student.
