About the Conference

Whether you’re an educator looking for strategies that actually work in a busy classroom, a parent navigating what comes next, or a professional supporting children and young people with disability, this day is for you.

The Dubbo Inclusive Education Conference brings educators, families, allied health professionals, local services and community organisations together for one practical, collaborative day – with ideas and connections you can actually take away and use.

While the conference is proudly hosted by Down Syndrome NSW, the day is for everyone. The strategies, discussions and information are relevant to children and young people with a wide range of disabilities, developmental needs and learning profiles.

For educators, there’ll be practical approaches to behaviour, regulation, communication, participation and learning, along with strategies for adjustments, transitions and supporting students across different stages of school.

For families, we’ll explore the journey from the early years and starting school through to high school, independence, employment and adult life – with information, practical strategies and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and connect with others.

For professionals and community organisations, it’s an opportunity to connect directly with families, educators and other services across the region, share expertise and strengthen local networks.

Children are welcome, and attendees travelling from outside Dubbo City may be eligible for financial assistance with travel costs. Scroll down for more details.

What We’ll Explore Throughout the Day

Practical Strategies for Supporting Every Learner

Explore practical, adaptable approaches to behaviour, regulation, communication, participation and learning. Our presenters will unpack what may be happening beneath behaviour and share strategies educators, families and professionals can use in real-world settings.

Sensory Processing, Regulation & Behaviour

Build a better understanding of sensory needs, regulation and behaviour, and how these can influence learning, wellbeing and participation. Take away practical ideas for supporting children and young people at school, at home and in the community.

Early Years & Starting School

Explore how families, early childhood settings and schools can work together to create strong, successful transitions. We’ll look at sharing the right information, understanding individual strengths and support needs, making effective adjustments and building positive partnerships from the beginning.

High School, Transition & What Comes Next

Look beyond the school years to self-advocacy, wellbeing, independence and meaningful pathways into employment, further education and community life. Explore how thoughtful transition planning can begin well before a young person leaves school and how educators, families and communities can work together to create genuine opportunities.

Real Conversations. Shared Experience. New Connections.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to connect with educators, families, allied health professionals and community members. Share experiences, ask questions, learn from others and build connections with people navigating different stages of the same journey.

A range of local providers, services and community organisations will also be joining us throughout the day, giving participants the chance to discover what’s available in the region, make useful connections and put faces to the people and organisations supporting children, young people and adults with disability in the Dubbo community.
