Event description

El 47 | 2024 | Spain | 1h 50min | Drama | M | Languages: Catalan, Spanish

Duck Creek Film Society presents the award winning Spanish film ‘El 47’ on Saturday 15th November 2025.

Join us at Alstonville Public (Primary) School for an evening of delicious food, live music and a great movie.

About this film: El 47 tells the incredible true story of an act of peaceful dissent and a grassroots neighbourhood movement. The year is 1978, and the Torre Baró area is a neighbourhood of shacks on the outskirts of Barcelona. The community, desperate for improvements such as running water and public transport, is ignored by the government. Until the locals decide to take matters into their own hands….. El 47 film has become a Spanish box office hit and won five Goya awards this year.

6.00 pm: Gates open

Before the film, join us in the courtyard and enjoy live music by saxophone band The Sax Maniacs. The six talented musicians from the Ballina Concert Band will deliver a dynamic mix of jazz and contemporary tunes.  The Alstonville school parent group will offer delicious finger foods, cakes and hot/cold beverages to purchase.

7.30pm – 9.45pm: Film (includes intermission).

Entry: as a Film Society, we can only provide screenings to our members. You are purchasing a membership to Duck Creek Film Society which entitles you to entry to this event. Cost is $12.50 online pre-paid (incl. fees) or $14 at the door (eftpos or cash, unless sold out).

Come and bring a friend, have a great time and support your local community group!
