OBIA (live) 

Obia tells tales from the Caribbean and their people, centring around degradation of the spirit, resilience and re-emergence of being, amidst seas of spiritual torment, creation, healing and powerfully daring conceptualisations of futures unknown.

In the darkest of soils, the most potent of herbs take root. The writing began on Obia’s island home of Barbados, mapping some of the connections between the afro-diasporas’ musics, a journey through some of the vast Caribbean and afro-Latin “new world sounds”.

Once paths converged between dedicated conguero and afro-latin specialist Vardi and a full band in Glasgow, the beast was born and continues to grow.

Obia is a broad term for African diasporic religious, spellcasting, and healing traditions found primarily in the former British West Indies.

Maxi Roots & Nico Rico (live)

'A new project featuring producer Maxi Roots and guitarist Nicky Kirk, playing live electronic bass-heavy Cumbia, with flavours of psychedelic Chicha, dub and Scottish music.

The two musicians met working with the live dub/trad band An Dannsa Dub, and found a mutual respect in each others creative styles and influences. Through making tunes together, they've found space to explore their interests and ideas, bringing them together into a performance of live mixed electronics and melodic guitar, forming a heavyweight sound.

This is their first venue gig, following a debut secret performance at Glastonbury Festival, and they're bringing loads of bass, with loads of booty.'


Samedia Shebeen (DJ)

Long standing tropical club night and DJ collective based in Edinburgh. These guys have been holding down the vibes in the capital and beyond for over a decade. They are one of the main reasons why Duende exists in the first place as was inspired by their parties. You might know them from the monthly club in Mash House, Knockengorrich, Kelburn Garden Party, the Portobello beach party, Boomtown - list goes on. Samedia will be on the decks for 2 beautiful hours. 

VARDI (DJ)

Duende founder holding down the first hour of the night with some old school Cumbias / Salsas . If you're looking to practise your Salsa moves get down early ;')
