Travel instructions

Park near the cnr of Ross St & Braid Rd. or take the #19 bus to Belleknowes and disembark at the stop just short of this intersection.

Entry instructions

Follow the path towards the red light at the Observatory. We deliberately have no lighting near the Observatory as it means we all have a clearer view of the stars. If there is no Moon light you might need to use a small torch or phone to follow the path. Please keep your torch pointing downwards towards the path, and by the time you reach the white handrail please turn off your light. You will be grateful when others do that when you’re looking through the telescopes. Thanks for helping to keep our sky dark.

Hazards

Uneven ground and low lighting – watch your step Trip hazards from cables and equipment Cold weather – dress warmly Slippery surfaces (dew, frost, or rain) Crowded areas around telescopes and buildings Wildlife or insect presence Electrical equipment – please do not touch Moving vehicles in the carpark – stay alert Limited visibility – bring a red torch if possible Children must be supervised at all times
