    Event description

Did you know you can use the same plants you eat to dye your clothes?

Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of natural dye and farm-to-table dining with our exclusive two-part series, "Dye to Dine," at Crown Hill Farm. Embark on a creative and culinary journey, blending the art of natural Shibori dyeing with a delightful farm-to-table dining experience.

PART 1: NATURAL DYEING WITH TAMI FULLER

In the first session, spend an inspiring afternoon with second-generation fiber artisan, arts & fiber educator, and exhibiting fine fiber artist Tami Fuller. Learn the fascinating techniques of natural dyeing using Shibori methods and dyes derived from purple carrots and onion skins.

These vibrant natural dyes yield a beautiful array of colors, transforming simple linen into stunning pieces of art. Under Tami's expert guidance, you'll create a hand-dyed linen placemat and a coordinating Shibori-folded linen napkin.

PART 2: FARM-TO-TABLE DINNER WITH CHEF JESSICA ARENDS

Two weeks later, return to Crown Hill Farm for a memorable dining experience. Enjoy a private meal where each course features carrots and onions, thoughtfully prepared by our talented chef, Jessica Arends of Cornelia@AKG.

Relish in the flavors of a gourmet farm-to-table dinner, using the very placemat and napkin you created in the first session.

THIS EXPERIENCE MORE THAN A MEAL OR WORKSHOP…

ITS A CELEBRATION OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE LAND, THE FOOD, AND YOUR ARTISTIC CREATION.

During this 2-Part experience, you will:

    • Discover the ancient Japanese art of Shibori and how to create intricate patterns using natural dyes
    • Hand-dye a linen placemat and napkin using dyes from purple carrots and onion skins to take home at the end
    • Savor a delicious meal where every course features the same ingredients used in your dyeing process
    • Enjoy the serene and picturesque setting of Crown Hill Farm, with its rich history and stunning views.
    • Benefit from the guidance and expertise of three Women Leaders:

      • Tami Fuller, a renowned fiber artist and educator,
      • Jessica Arends, Executive Chef at Cornelia @ AKG and owner of BABS of Buffalo Artisan Meats and
      • Missy Singer DuMars, shepherdess, farmer and owner of Crown Hill Farm
