As we adjust to the intensity of Meanjin’s sub-tropical atmosphere, there is space to appreciate a good seasonal pairing. Ice cream and the beach, unbearable humidity and air conditioning, oysters and house music. Another iconic pairing? Hannah D & DJ Luv U; the duo behind the iconic Naarm queer party Luna Blessings.

Hannah D is an artist who holds a special place in the heart of this city’s dancers, having been incredibly prominent within the scene pre-COVID before moving south to become a Naarm heavyweight through her masterful selections and excellent curation as the head honcho of esteemed label The Space Between Us.

On the other hand, DJ Luv U isn’t from Meanjin, but we won’t hold it against them. They are an absolute icon down south, renowned for their technical wizardry on the turntables and commitment to unadulterated dance floor joy, with a penchant for the more euphoric sounds of the 90s.

Together they are one of the most potent musical forces in the country, delivering a distinctively progressive sound with smatterings of techy grooves, trance floaters and straight up party house, all delivered with a distinct sense of humour and palpable queer joy. It’s an honour to have them onboard.

Meanwhile, our resident ramen experts Yoko & Rina will be putting down the noodles for a special oyster bar, full of yummy aquatic treats for nautical cuisine fans, with vegan and veggie options available. Beloved barkeep Greaves will be slinging spritzes to keep the dancers cool and refreshed while Tiny Whisk warms up the courtyard!
