Join researchers from Australia and Chile in a conversation about contemporary issues for early childhood education and care. The presenters will discuss what current research reveals about navigating reform and change in ECEC and explore the opportunities and challenges of moving play-based learning from aspiration to everyday practice.
The seminar will be of particular interest to educators, educational leaders, researchers, and students seeking to better understand the relationship between policy, leadership, pedagogy, and practice.

Dr. María José Opazo
Maria José Opazo is a researcher & teaching Academic at the University of Chile. She is currently a visiting scholar working and collaborating on research with WSU early childhood academics. Working in predominantly qualitative methodologies, her research examines how policies, leadership practices, and institutional conditions shape the work of educational teams and children's learning and wellbeing opportunities.

Jaydene Barnes
Jaydene Barnes is a Researcher and Lecturer in the Early Childhood programs at WSU. She teaches across literacy, play and professional experience subjects in both early childhood and primary contexts. Her research focuses on pedagogies that promote children’s engagement, learning and wellbeing through dialogue, meaningful connections to their lifeworlds
