Event description

AELA's Earth Arts program connects with artists and creatives around Australia, and in 2023/2024 we're inviting amazing artists to share stories about their work and what inspires them.

On 12 April, please join us for a fantastic conversation with artists Merete Megarrity and Renata Buziak, about their nature-inspired arts practice. Facilitated by Dr Michelle Maloney, AELA's Co-founder and National Convenor.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKERS

MERETE MEGARRITY

Merete is a visual artist and Doctor of Visual Arts candidate at the Queensland College of Art, Meanjin. Her research explores the intersection between sculpture, installation, sound, video, ecology, and art history and focuses on how an installation practice can help an audience make kin with the more-than-human in the context of environmental breakdown. DR RENATA BUZIAK

Renata Buziak is a biochrome photomedia artist, educator and researcher helping people to reconnect with nature. Her PhD research (2015) focused on medicinal plants of Minjerribah in consultations with the Quandamooka Peoples. In 2022 Binna Burra Lodge invited Renata to create her signature biochrome images on the Binna Burra Cultural Landscape; and develop and lead a new Art.
