Pathways to an Active Travel Program: EASL PD

This event has passed Register

Event description

A session looking at the big picture of travelling actively, what it could mean for your school community and the support available locally.

Travelling actively (walk, ride, scoot, skate etc) has so many benefits particularly for health and wellbeing. There are a number of other incidental effects that increasing active travel can bring, including:

  • Improved academic performance
  • Improved air quality and reduced emissions
  • Reclaiming space previously used for cars (e.g. carparking)
  • Improved community relationships and sense of place

Michael Blowfied, Transport and Sustainability Planner from Maroondah City Council, will share his experiences in supporting schools to develop their active travel plan and learnings from schools who are further along the journey.

A range of resources will be made available after the session, including an active travel calendar and connections to further programs such as those run by VicHealth and the RACV.
