East Gippsland Waste & Recycling Service Review Focus Groups

Event description

East Gippsland Shire Council is undertaking a review of waste management practices to ensure they meet the current and future needs of East Gippsland's growing community, align with regulatory changes, promote long-term operational sustainability and minimise the environmental impacts of waste operations.

The objectives of the review include establishing best value services, supporting circular economy outcomes, responding to regulatory changes, increasing waste diversion, engaging the community, and minimising environmental impacts.

We encourage you to learn about the review, stay informed and share your thoughts. We will be actively seeking your input from July through to September 2024. There are two options to get involved – a survey if you are short on time (which can be found at this link) and focus groups if you have more time and would like to be more actively involved.

Focus groups will be held in Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Orbost and Omeo between the 12th and 14th of September 2024. They will be 1.5-2hrs long, depending on number of attendees and involve a short presentation and group discussion. The sessions will be attended by Council staff and run by an independent facilitator. Participants will be invited to share opinions, experiences, and ideas while the facilitator ensures everyone gets a chance to contribute, and documents the conversation.
