Eat the Invaders: ABC Film Screening + Panel Deep Dive
Event description
Hosted by the Murray Darling Conservation Alliance, Conservation Council SA, and the ABC Impacts and Partnerships team.
Water is the lifeblood of South Australia - so how do we protect it?
Join us for a screening of ABC Australia's Eat the Invaders ("Carp" episode), followed by a deep dive panel discussion on river health, water in SA, and the future of the Murray Darling Basin. ABC’s Eat the Invaders is a six-part series exploring how Australia can tackle some of its most problematic invasive species. In this episode, we take a closer look at carp - one of the most destructive pests in our waterways. These bottom-feeders degrade water quality, stir up sediment, and contribute to algal blooms, threatening the health of our rivers and wetlands.
This screening and discussion will go beyond invasive species, diving into the broader challenges facing South Australia’s water systems. With expert panelists, we’ll explore what’s at stake, the impacts of mismanagement, and what can be done to secure a healthier future for our rivers.
Panelist’s include:
- Glen Hill (featured on the episode), Coorong Fisherman
- Silvia Zukowski, CLLMM Research Centre Ecologist
- Char Nitschke, Murray Darling Conservation Alliance + Conservation Council SA, Save The Murray Campaign Coordinator.
- + More to announce!
There will be a bar and light finger food available - come along, grab a drink, and be part of the conversation!
