Join us for the second of our virtual series this year! Together our iaedp chapter is collaborating with treatment center sponsors to reach farther into the community. With each virtual presentation we are celebrating and serving the audience of community mental health providers. Together we are educating folks on eating disorders and best practices in this field.

This program will offer 1.5 CEs; iaedp is an approved continuing education provider with NBCC and CPE

Treating adolescent mental health issues has never been for the faint of heart.  The challenges of treating this population have been amplified in recent years causing clinicians to seek new ways to address ever increasing acuity.  In this presentation, adolescent mental health will be explored with specific focus on the treatment of eating disorders.  Evidence-based practices for treating this population will be provided with additional focus on creating a sense of connectedness through the therapeutic relationship and in group and family therapy.  Special considerations for clinicians will be discussed as we seek support the evolving needs of this population.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to identify factors that contribute to the complexity of treating adolescents with eating disorders.

Participants will be able to list three evidence based interventions effective in treating eating disorders in adolescents.

Participants will be able to increase connectedness in the therapeutic relationship as well as in group and family therapy.

The link for the presentation will be sent out the night before and the day of the presentation. Questions? Contact iaedpwnc@gmail.com

This program is sponsored by The Renfrew Center.

The Renfrew Center has been the pioneer in the treatment of eating disorders since 1985. As the nation’s first residential eating disorder facility, now with 19 locations throughout the country, Renfrew has helped more than 85,000 adolescent girls and women with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and related mental health problems move towards recovery. Programming consists of a comprehensive range of services including day treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient groups. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have temporarily shifted our day treatment and intensive outpatient programming to a virtual platform that is fully accessible to patients from the safety and comfort of their homes. Renfrew is accepting patients at its residential facilities in Philadelphia, PA and Coconut Creek, FL and has put necessary procedures in place to ensure the continued safety and well-being of patients. The Renfrew Center is a preferred provider for most health insurance and managed care companies and works with individuals to create a financial plan that meets the need of each prospective Renfrew patient.
