Australasian Dance Collective is one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies.
Established in 1984 as Expressions Dance Company by Maggi Sietsma AM, the company has created more than 190 works by 86 national and international choreographers.
Based in Brisbane, Queensland, with an extraordinary ensemble of six company artists, we have achieved significant recognition through national awards, including three Helpmann Awards and three Australian Dance Awards.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director & CEO, Amy Hollingsworth, we are a collective of artists, creatives and collaborators working together to connect, empower and inspire. We are defined by our commitment to excellence in both performance and sector development - delivering extensive education and community engagement opportunities - contributing to the evolution and future of contemporary dance.
We create multiple new works annually, collaborate nationally and internationally and present performance seasons at major Australian venues including our presenting partner venue, Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
ADC prioritises collaboration and artistic risk-taking to create exhilarating dance works - redefining our boundaries and reimagining our connection with audiences.
ADC Pre-Professional Program
Our Pre-Professional Program offers full-time vocational training for contemporary dancers. Led by Pre-Professional Program Director Alison Currie, our PPP aims to cultivate creative, versatile and employable dance artists, with strong and diverse artistic voices and excellence in technical and performance capabilities. Students gain invaluable experience training alongside a professional company and graduate with a CUA60120 Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance) upon successful completion of the course.
ADC Youth Ensemble
Our Youth Ensemble comprises like-minded dancers aged 14-19, who share the same passions and creative pathways. Creativity is at the forefront of our program and Australasian Dance Collective aims to enrich, inspire and support the young dancers of our community. Youth Ensemble Director Courtney Scheu, leads a program that will enhance the dancers' learning and capabilities by encouraging a strong focus on their individual development. Guest teachers further extend technique through creative skills workshops and there is a great emphasis on the importance of communication as an ensemble as well as the implementation of creative habits to build confidence and encourage curiosity and exploration.
ADC Mature Program
The Mature Program facilitates a range of movement practices, fosters a sense of community, promotes healthy living and positive ageing. Our tailored program invigorates and inspires, developing your physical and creative skills in a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating environment. Led by Mature Program Coordinator Jaime Redfern, the program encompasses three streams of opportunity: Mature Classes, Mature Intensive and the Mature Ensemble. We welcome anyone who has an interest in moving their bodies, joyously. No previous dance experience is necessary.
