Eco-Dyeing with Eucalyptus - hosted by Claire Mosley
Event description
Join artist Claire Mosley to learn the processes of eco dyeing with wool and eucalyptus leaves. We will learn all about the harvesting process, preparing the leaves and fabrics, the best way to bundle as well as the steaming and boiling processes.
Eco Dyeing, also known as eco printing, is a natural dyeing process where the natural colours from leaves and plants are transferred onto fibres such as wool and silks with heat and bundling techniques.
Claire Mosley is a watercolour artist, natural dyer and environmental educator who creates on Wurundjeri Country in Narrm, Melbourne. Claire initially learnt the process of natural dyeing while in the bush, boiling her first bundle on an open fire. For the past 10 years, she has continued her practice, getting to know her local trees and perfecting her bundles to get the most vibrant and richest colours.
*The workshop includes prepared eucalyptus leaves and a pair of locally milled pure wool socks. Extra socks and wool scarves will also be available to purchase during the workshop.
*Please note, Claire will be steaming the items post workshop. Items can be arranged to be collected in the weeks after the workshop.
