Moreton Climate Action Now, with the support of City of Moreton Bay, is delighted to present a programme of eco-themed movie shorts followed by a facilitated discussion and light refeshments
This screening will comprise the following selection of thought-provoking films that you won't see in cinemas:
The Beauty - (4 mins) - will deliver one of the most transforming 4 minutes of your life. Directed by Pascal Scheibli, it describes through poetry and stunning visuals an ocean where plastics are integrated into sea life, rendering it both alluring and repulsive. You won't easily forget this film.
outpicker - (13 mins) - inspired people who viewed it at the Yarun film festival on Bribie Island to initiate local actions. This environmental poem and award-winning documentary is about a Chinese queer woman, Jing who finds a sense of belonging in the Australian landscape through litter picking with her community in Victoria, (Running Time - 13 minutes)
RIVERTREE - (35 mins) - Did you know that mining is taking place just west of Byron Bay near the banks of the Clarence River? RIVERTREE is a documentary that honors the majestic Clarence River (Biirrinba, Boorimbah), the unwavering care of community, and the stand against rare earth mineral mining along her remote banks.
Water Is Life - (35 mins) - is a documentary about the Aboriginal communities fighting against fracking plans in the NT and learnings gained from First Nations people in the USA who are impacted by the actions of gas companies..
