Eco Eleganza is Trash to Fashion’s first exhibit of garments made by our workshop participants, and it’s happening at New Haven City Hall this September and October with support from New Haven Arts Culture & Tourism, our funders (see below), and contributions from individual donors throughout the region.

Free to attend. Space is limited. Advance registration encouraged.

Suggested donation: $20 includes all materials and light refreshments.

Please register each individual; do not register multiple people as one name.

If all spots fill, you will be put on a wait list automatically and notified if anyone cancels their registration.

Kids under age 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

We'll Provide:

FAQs

  • How much is a ticket?

Tickets are free. There is a suggested donation of $20, but we never turn anyone away for lack of funds, as long as they register in advance.

If you register before the 24th and we have already filled all 25 spots, you will be placed on a waitlist. You will receive an email from Humanitix if space opens up. (Make sure you put Humanitix in your email contact list, so it doesn’t go into spam.) In the event you’re offered a spot after the 1st, we will have materials for you.

  • Can I bring my family, friends, neighbors, pets, even if they’re not artsy?
    1. Humans are welcome at EcoEleganza! (Sorry, you need to leave your pets at home.)

    2. People under age 18 must be with an adult.

    3. 1 ticket per person. Please register yourself and any additional guests separately.

  • I like to be spontaneous. Why are you asking me to register in advance?

To maintain zero-waste at our events, we source all necessary materials carefully in advance and provide only for the number of people that register.

  • What does my ticket include?
    1. Entry to the exhibit

    2. Light refreshments

    3. Access to the free selfie booth

  • What is Trashion?
    1. Trashion is trash fashion made with (properly cleaned & sterilized) food wrappers, junk, found objects, and/or upcycled textiles.

    2. There is no correct way to make trashion. People come to our workshops and create whatever they want. We provide the materials and guidance to help participants bring their vision to life! Anyone can be a Trashionista!

  • What should I wear?

We are Trashionistas, not the fashion police. Wear what you want. If you have a trash fashion outfit that you want to wear, we would love to see it!

  • How can I help ensure this event runs smoothly?

Thanks for asking! We have volunteers for this event! But if you'd like to help at future events, please share your interest at https://trashtofashion.substack.com/p/volunteer

Donations are always appreciated and will go toward further programing and events! Learn more about donating to Trash to Fashion here.

We cannot wait to see you !
