Economic evaluation of alternative urban park designs that conserve irrigation water | CSI UWA webinar
Event description
Urban parks are crucial in recreation, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. However, traditional park designs in Perth may not fully align with community preferences or maximise overall benefits relative to costs, particularly when it comes to water conservation.
In this presentation, Prof. David Pannell and Dr. Claire Doll will explore how Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) can be used to evaluate urban park designs by incorporating both financial and non-financial considerations. They will discuss how environmental economists assess trade-offs between irrigation water use, biodiversity, and recreational value, demonstrating how alternative park designs can better balance these factors.
You will gain insights into how economic evaluation methods can inform urban planning, policy decisions, and the future of sustainable green spaces in Perth.
