Event description

We are excited to launch a new ecstatic dance for the inner west in a sacred temple in the heart of Newtown.

Held in a hall of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, we are blessed to dance our prayers at the feet of the Buddha!

Ecstatic Dance is a freestyle community dancefloor where we come together without words or booze or phones and just dance deep... shaking loose and letting go to great music in a safe inclusive and sacred space with a live dj and an amazing soundsystem.

You can expect a variety of music all woven together to keep you in the moment and the movement. From soft and slow to hard and fast, sexy bass beats to classic remixes to sound healing vibes at the very end... the journey is a full spectrum soul experience for the body mind and spirit.

We gather at Temple On The Park every month to release, remember and rejoice in the sweet ceremony of dance and friends ~ join us!

Tickets are limited, and last month saw a sell out crowd. Secure a ticket early!

What to expect

A 90 minute dance journey to connect with yourself through movement, guided by the inner wisdom of your body. The set is mixed by an experienced Ecstatic dance DJ, usually live, and whilst the style and music will change with the DJ, the journey is always the same: warmup, welcome, dance journey, cool down and closing circle.

Some dancers move around a lot, some not so much, it is up to you and your connection with yourself in that moment. Just because there is no talking doesn't mean no communication! Use eye contact and move towards someone if you want to dance with them, just respectfully move on if the person is in their own space - you will know. Give plenty of space to yourself and others and be open to your feelings and emotions as they arise. Maybe you don't like a track, what comes up for you? How does the beat move within you? How does your body respond differently to a track you love? Or are indifferent about? Play, dance, move, whoop if you need. Just honour the intention of no words and no phones once you enter the space.
