    Event description

Welcome to the Edible Gardens Festival – the Margaret River region’s annual sustainability and food growing festival, returning in 2024 for the May 11&12 weekend! This not-for-profit event is aimed at connecting community and empowering you with knowledge and inspiration to get your hands dirty, grow your own food, live lighter on the planet, and have fun in the process.

VIEW THE 2024 FESTIVAL PROGRAM HERE (Please note, open gardens are being finalised and will be confirmed soon!)

OPEN GARDENS: This year there’s an exciting new format. You can either grab a Saturday or a Sunday day ticket for $15 (or one of each if you’re really keen!). On Saturday, there are 4 varied open edible gardens on the program for you to tour between 9am and 1pm, meet the gardeners and hear all about their gardening journey, tips and techniques. A different set of 4 gardens will be open on Sunday, also from 9am-1pm. These are all real-life, practical, authentic gardens and gardeners taking care of their soil and producing abundance. Find out more about the gardens in the 2024 Edible Gardens Festival Program (please note, program is still being finalised). Kids under 16 are free but make sure you reserve kids ticket when booking.

WORKSHOPS: For even deeper learning, we’ve added 4 Saturday afternoon workshops, each which runs for 90 minutes, is capped at an intimate 15 people, and costs $25 each (two from 1.30pm-3pm and the other two from 3.30pm-5pm). The same workshops will be repeated Sunday at the same times. The topics are: mastering composting, wicking beds and other waterwise tips, advanced soil management, and garden tool maintenance. Find out more about them in the 2024 Edible Gardens Festival Program. These are all held at Fair Harvest Permaculture with expert teachers. Fair Harvest is also the official campground for the event (for accommodation book direct through www.fairharvest.com.au) and their café will be open over the weekend for lunch, beverages and cake.

SUNDOWNER: Finally, we’ll hosting a free community sundowner from 5pm-730pm at Gathered Organics with a garden Q&A panel discussion, a raffle and giveaways, and live music from The Nomadics. Food, drinks and wine available for purchase. Bring a picnic rug or chair! Numbers are limited due to venue capacity so reserve your free ticket when you purchase your Saturday or Sunday festival ticket (while tickets last).

SPECIAL OFFERS: Our friends at Margaret River Mitre 10 are offering all ticket holders 20 per cent of all plants for the week after the Edible Gardens Festival (May 13-19 inclusive). Simply show your festival ticket at the counter when purchasing your potted plants, fruit trees or veg seedlings!

A FINAL WORD: We hope you love the festival and come away with some inspiration for your place!
