Education Day - Australian Women Pilots' Association

The Australian Women Pilots’ Association (AWPA) is an entirely voluntary, not-for-profit organisation which aims to foster closer relationships and unity among women pilots, assist women to undertake flying in Australia and elsewhere, and to develop public interest in aviation, especially among women. AWPA has members aged from 16 to 90 years and range from pre-solo students to commercial, airline and military pilots, some members having more than 20,000 hours. Members become the core of a nationwide network which aims to assist women to achieve their goals in aviation.

This year, AWPA's Education Day will provide an inspiring line up of speakers, both in person and online, including;

• Milly Formby (Wing Threads): Microlight flight around Australia
• Mel Kirkness (Martin-Baker): The evolution of Ejection Seats and how they enabled women to fly
• Andrea Henderson (Bureau of Meteorology): Space Weather and it's importance to aviation
• Brodie Sweeney (RAAF):  Flying with the Roulettes

Our Keynote Speaker is Natalee Johnston (Skilful Decisions: https://skilfuldecisions.com/). Natalee will discuss her career as the first female Navy helicopter pilot, and lead the group in a discussion around the themes of resilience and achieving your aviation goals.

The day will be rounded out with a panel discussion led by Captain Viola Gibson, with some of our speakers of the day joined by Belinda Beatty (https://www.belindabeatty.com/) and Captain Helen Trenerry (QANTAS)
