Event description

This twilight workshop has been designed by an experienced HSC marker to best prepare students for the 2024 HSC.Ā This session is NOT another content review workshop. Your presenter Rob Mahon is an experienced HSC marker and EES teacher who will walk you through extremely valuable "do's, don'ts and how to's" of specific exam techniques & revision tools. We will cover:

- Methods of interpreting what HSC questions are really requiring from students.
- Which outcomes are likely to attract large-mark questions.
- Several high-value concepts hidden in the syllabus.

Also unique to this workshop is our deep analysis of poorly answered questions in previous HSC exams, allowing participants to learn from the errors of past students.

All students will walk away with a variety of resources.

    Workshop Delivered by Rob Mahon

Rob Mahon is a passionate practitioner of secondary science teaching with over 30 years experience. When Earth and Environmental Science was first launched in NSW for 2000, he put his Earth Science background to good use and began writing an EES prac manual, which morphed into cowriting the Spotlight textbook. When EES was launched as an ACARA syllabus for 2018, Rob worked with David Heffernan to revise and rewrite their textbook to ensure that teachers (many without a background in this field) would have a tailored resource to support them when the course commenced nationally. Having previously specialised as a school Leader of Pedagogy, he brings this focus to his classroom activities, along with as much fun and music as he can fit in. Rob is an experienced HSC marker and uses this expertise to regularly empower his students to exceed their predicted growth in EES.
