Effective Management of Anaesthetic Crises (EMAC) is a simulation-based course focused on managing anaesthetic emergencies.  This course will be held on Wednesday 27th November to Friday 29th November (2 full days, and the final day finishes at approximately 1pm).

Effective Management of Anaesthetic Crises (EMAC) is an ANZCA accredited course designed for specialist anaesthetists, trainees (having completed 18 months of training and the Primary exam), GP anaesthetists and JCCA trainees. It is run over two and a half days and consists of the following five modules:

  • Human factors
  • Airway management
  • Cardiovascular emergencies
  • Anaesthetic emergencies and
  • Trauma management

It is taught by anaesthetists with educational expertise, offering participants the opportunity to develop and hone their practice in a high fidelity, safe learning environment

The emphasis is on small group teaching, immersive simulation and personal feedback. Strategies for effective communication and teamwork are featured. Participants are given direct observational feedback throughout.

The EMAC course focuses on the clinical and non-clinical skills utilised in the management of anaesthetic emergencies. This builds on participants experience and competence in clinical anaesthesia.

The course is suitable for:
• ANZCA trainees in BTY 2 or above who have successfully completed the Primary exam
• GP Anaesthetic trainees close to the completion of their training
• Overseas trained anaesthesia specialists in the SIMG group
• Specialist Anaesthetists
• GP Anaesthetists

Adelaide Health Simulation utilises contemporary simulated environments & equipment, facilitating best-learning practice. 

Note: Cancellation or withdrawal due to COVID will result in a refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Cancellation for personal reasons will be refunded prior to 30 days of course commencement, minus a $250 cancellation fee.
