EFT in Action - October 2026
Description
Working with Interruptions with Barry Strmelj
The AIEFT is excited to be hosting ‘Emotion Focused Therapy in Action’, a workshop series run by Barry Strmelj. These workshops are suitable for practitioners with a background in EFT training (at least EFT Level 1) and who utilise, or are looking to incorporate EFT into their work with clients.
Emotion blocks and interruptions occur regularly during therapy and represent the client’s self-protective acts of blocking, restricting and interrupting their emotional experiencing. If left unattended they are likely to impact the focus and depth of therapy. Initially the workshop focuses on identifying the presence of emotional blocks and interruptions and when it might be important to focus on them for specific interventions. A staged approach will be introduced using empathic attunement and exploration to enhance the awareness of the interruption, of how the interruption occurs, and the purpose and the negative impact of the interruption. And once a client is wanting to allow their emotion, the primary intervention of chairwork for interruptions will be outlined. This includes the block being attended to and symbolized and, as opposition to unblocked emotion reduces, the previously blocked emotion being allowed and experienced.
Please note: Each workshop requires a minimum of 5 participants to proceed. If minimum numbers are not reached, the session may be rescheduled or cancelled, and participants will be notified in advance.
