Event description

Broadway star Maya Days (Aida, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar) makes her Jacksonville debut, joining forces with 6-time Grammy nominated cellist Dave Eggar and international  piano virtuoso Amir Farid for a very special one-night only concert! This powerful trio will take the audience on an unforgettable musical journey celebrating the diverse diaspora that is American Music. This special concert event will feature show tunes, Jazz, Blues, and Classical music by artists and composers Billie Holliday, Roberta Flack, Steven Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, William Grant Still (celebrated African-American Jazz and classical musician/composer), Caroline Shaw (recipient Pulitzer Price For Music) and Steven Schwartz (legendary composer of many hit musicals, including Godspell, Pippin and Wicked). This concert promises to keep the audience dancing in their seat all night long!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

DAVE EGGAR

Renowned cellist, producer and songwriter, Dave was a musical prodigy at a very young age. He was a student of the great American composer Aaron Copeland, as well as studying at Harvard under legendary cellist Yo Yo Ma.  Dave's deep skill set and musical knowledge has allowed him to perform, record, and arrange in a multitude of classical settings as well as for top  artists across an unheard of array of genres including Coldplay (yes, that's him opening their mega-hit "Viva La Vida"), Amy Lee & Evanescence, Taylor Swift, Beyonce (and Jay Z), David Bowie, Roseanne Cash, Phillip Phillips, Frank Ocean, Foreigner, Imagine Dragons, John Legend and Norah Jones to literally name just a few. Dave has won numerous awards here and internationally, as well as being a six time Grammy nominee

MAYA DAYS

Made her Broadway debut as Mimi in Rent after appearing in the same role in the West End in London. On Broadway, she played Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and the tour-de-force role of Aida in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. On television, she has appeared on Law and Order, Barbershop, Blue Bloods and in a recurring role on Damages opposite Glenn Close. As a Jive recording artist, she toured the world with three top-10 hits including the #1 single "Feel It" (which was the promotional song for the World Cup and featured on Showtime's Queer as Folk). With Gabry Ponte, she recorded "Sexy DJ," which became an international dance/pop hit.

AMIR FARID

Winner of the prestigious 2006 Australian National Piano Award, Amir Farid is a New York-based Iranian-Australian solo pianist, associate artist and chamber musician. He has been described as "a highly creative musician, a pianist of great intelligence and integrity. He brings strong musical substance to all that he does, imbuing it with his own particular experience and understanding". Amir has performed as a solo recitalist and collaborative artist throughout the world, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, as well as St. Martin in the Fields in London.
