EJC And Co/Lab: Reimagine Jewish Present a Special Tisha b’Av Program:

A Screening of the Israeli Film

Legend of Destruction

Winner of Four Israeli Academy Awards

Tisha b’Av, which begins the evening of August 12th, commemorates the destruction by the Romans of the Temple in Jerusalem in the year 70, and the subsequent suffering and exile of the Jewish people.

Experience the gripping tale of that historic moment as never before at this special Tisha b’Av gathering: a screening of the English language version of the Israeli film Legend of Destruction, featuring the voices of Elliot Gould, Oscar Isaac, Evangeline Lilly and others.

The film’s unique visual style was created with 1,500 original paintings by David Polonsky and Michael Faust, the artists behind the Oscar-nominated ‘Waltz with Bashir,’ while the original music and score written by Assaf Talmudi and Yonatan Albalak are nothing short of amazing.

With stunning visuals and a stirring score, LEGEND of DESTRUCTION uses the Talmud and contemporary accounts as source material to delve into the dangers of greed, corruption, religious fanaticism and communal division that are all too familiar.

Following the screening, Rabbi Rose of Co/Lab will lead a discussion about the film’s themes and their implications for today.
