EL AFTER – Rooftop After Party
Description
The festival ends. The night begins.
Two bands. Completely different sets. Afro-Cuban electronica. DJs. Percussion. Five hours of music above the city.
La Fiesta might finish at 10pm, but we're only getting started!
Welcome to EL AFTER, a late-night rooftop celebration bringing together some of the most exciting sounds of Latin America, from live cumbia and Caribbean rhythms to Afro-Cuban percussion, electronic music and dance-floor favourites.
We're taking over Blank Cultural Platform, one of Canberra's most exciting rooftop venues, right in the heart of the city and just a couple of blocks from the main festival.
And we're bringing two of La Fiesta's live bands with us — but this time, they're taking things in a completely different direction.
The lineup
KACHIMBAZ (Sydney) — Extended Party Set
If you've caught Kachimbaz at La Fiesta, you already know what they're capable of. Now imagine them with more time, more freedom and a rooftop full of people ready to dance.
This Sydney-based Latin fusion band brings together musicians from across Latin America and Australia, delivering an explosive blend of cumbia, salsa, merengue, ska, reggae and Latin rock.
Their shows are all about rhythm, energy and connection. With an infectious stage presence and a repertoire built for the dance floor, Kachimbaz know exactly how to get a party moving.
A different set from their La Fiesta performance — and a chance to experience the band doing what they do best.
SUNS OF MERCURY + DJ WICHY (Melbourne/Cuba) — Extended Afro-Cuban Electronic Set
An extraordinary collision of traditional Afro-Cuban percussion and contemporary electronic music.
Led by percussionist Adrian Hearn, Suns of Mercury brings together Cuban musicians Aloy Junco and Rodolfo "Panga" Hechavarría, exploring the deep musical traditions of rumba, batá drumming and Afro-Cuban rhythm.
For EL AFTER, they're joined by DJ Wichy de Vedado, a pioneering Cuban electronic music producer whose work connects Havana's underground electronic scene with Afro-Cuban sounds, global beats and contemporary club culture.
This extended performance takes the rhythms you hear at La Fiesta into new territory, with live percussion meeting electronic production and a stronger focus on the dance floor.
Ancient rhythms. New electronic sounds. One unforgettable musical journey.
DJ JOSHUA MADRID (Canberra)
Keeping the dance floor moving, Canberra's DJ Joshua Madrid brings a vibrant mix of Latin and Caribbean sounds, including salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaetón, Brazilian funk and house.
THE PERCUSSION PROCESSION — RAIO DE SOL × BATERÍA 61
Don't just walk to the after party. Dance your way there!
As La Fiesta comes to a close, Canberra's samba percussion communities Raio de Sol and Batería 61 will lead a rhythmic procession from the festival towards Blank Cultural Platform.
Follow the drums through the city and keep the celebration moving.
One rooftop. Two live bands. DJs until late.
Whether you've spent the day at La Fiesta or you're joining us just for the night, EL AFTER is the place to keep dancing.
Expect a celebration of live music, culture and community, with festival energy carrying into the early hours.
