    We are delighted to be hosting the following 'young professionals' speakers at this month's Electra BA5 Levin Locals Panel.

    Mariah Hori te PaAmo Ture | Associate - Whāia Legal
     “E kore au e ngaro, he kākano i ruia mai i Rangiātea”
     He uri tēnei nō Muaūpoko, Ngāti Huia, Ngāti Tūkorehe, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Toa hoki. I te taha o tōku māmā nō Samoa me Ingarangi ōku tūpuna.

     
    Mariah is currently working for Whāia Legal, as an Amo Ture (Associate), after practising in civil litigation at Meredith Connell (MC) for over six years. Mariah is committed in her work for the benefit of hapū, iwi, and hāpori and whānau Māori. Mariah completed Heke Reo Māori (a diploma in te reo Māori) at Te Wānanga o Raukawa in 2022.
    Mariah has broad and diverse legal experience, covering public and commercial litigation, regulatory and enforcement, and criminal prosecution. She has proudly contributed to the development of feminist and mana wahine theory in New Zealand, as a co-author of a chapter in the book Feminist Judgments of Aotearoa New Zealand (2017), and more recently as a co-author of an article in the New Zealand Women’s Law Journal (2022).

    Dr Caitlin Bland 
    Health Hawkes Bay 
    Caitlin is a former Waiopehu student who studied at Otago University, graduating in 2023.  Dr Bland has experience volunteering in the Pacific Islands, providing medical support to locals there for 3 months. Moving to the Hawkes Bay in early 2024, Dr Bland has taken a role with Health HB but is still firmly connected to the Horowhenua through her strong family ties in Levin. 

    Liam McLeavey
    Liam is an award-winning leader, who has dedicated his life to unleashing the potential of people, organisations and communities. He has worked locally, nationally and internationally, including speaking at this year's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. 

    Liam is a Manager at PwC New Zealand, supporting clients across the public, private and community sectors in the areas of strategy, transformation and social equity. Liam is also the Deputy Board Chair of Student Job Search, New Zealand’s leading student and graduate employment agency.
    Liam was acknowledged for his contribution and leadership by the Horowhenua community with a formal Certificate of Recognition at the 2021 Horowhenua District Council Civic Honours. He was also recognised by the We Are Family Foundation as one of 32 Global Teen Leaders in the world in 2020.
