We’re excited to welcome a not to be missed guest speaker for the July BA5 Event, Russell Packer, a proud Māori man with whakapapa to Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Kuia and local iwi Muaūpoko.

Raised in Foxton, Russell is a local who has faced and overcome significant challenges in his life. After securing a professional rugby league contract at just 16, he experienced both success and setbacks – including a term of imprisonment in 2014. This marked a major turning point in his life, sparking a journey of transformation through education and personal development.

Despite not holding an undergraduate degree, Russell was accepted into a graduate business programme and recently completed his MBA with distinction. He’s currently studying towards a Master of Legal Studies at the University of Auckland.

Russell shares powerful insights from his lived experiences – from self-accountability and mindset to navigating adversity and building resilience. His story is one of hope, discipline, and the strength to change.
