Join us for Electrify Christchurch Expo 2026. A free, public, family friendly event showcasing the latest technologies and services helping New Zealand households transition to affordable, cleaner, smarter, and more energy-efficient living.

Whether you're interested in electric vehicles, solar power, home batteries, heat pumps, hot water solutions, home energy efficiency, or other electrification technologies, the Expo is your opportunity to explore practical options for your home and lifestyle.

Meet industry experts, suppliers, installers, and service providers from across New Zealand, ask questions, compare solutions, try out cool electric tech, and learn how electrification can help reduce energy costs, improve comfort, increase resilience, and lower emissions.

Free bike valet parking available on site provided by the team at Spokes Canterbury (entry via the overflow carpark). They will look after your bike while you explore the expo! No worries about finding a secure place to lock up!

Inside:

  • Indoor Electrification Expo (All day) - A range of exhibitors covering solar, batteries, hot water heat pumps, induction cooking, heating, finance and more.

  • Speaker Series (All day) - A range of speakers across many inspiring electrification topics (see details below).

  • Ask Me Anything Lounge (All day) - Come and chat with real people who have electrified their lives, what worked for them and understand the potential of electrification.

Speaker Series:

  • 10:00 AM – Real Community Savings: Michael Anderson, Sam Kivi and Kate Hodgins on electrifying their homes and what our groups are doing to electrify our communities with sustainable, affordable electrons.

  • 10:30 AM – The Frontier of Electrification: Gary Freedman and Jeff Smit on electrifying their homes, aviation and boating. They are pioneers in aviation and boating.

  • 11:00 AM – The Great Political Debate - The Future of Energy in Canterbury: Its election year, which is why we have representation from all political parties, convened by 350 Aotearoa with Mike Casey as MC. Featuring: Megan Woods (Labour Party), Hamish Campbell (National Party), Shreejan Pandey (Green Party), Bryce Park (New Zealand First), Eden Skipper (Opportunity Party) and Peter Wilson (Alliance Party).

  • 12:00 PM – Homes and mobility - Deep Dive: Simon Kingham, Vicky Southworth and Lyn Dawson on electrifying their respective homes and how we get around.

  • 12:30 PM – From Cherry Orchards to Rewiring Aotearoa: Mike Casey has electrified his life including his home, farm now he is rewiring all of Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • 1:00 PM – Power to the People: Simon Rycroft (Orion) and Antione Riboulon (Aotea Energy) on incentivising flexibility and rewards within the electricity system.

  • 1:30 PM – Accelerating the Future: Rod Carr and Roger Sutton on ways we can accelerate electrification and save money in across Canterbury. Margarita Parra will ask questions.

  • 2:00 PM – Opinions on the Solar Market in NZ - and how to become your own gentailer: John Wilson from Sunshine Solar will dive into 6 big things you need to know. Why? Because there's a lot of information out there.

  • 2:30 PM – Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions: Your Whole-of-Home Electrification Journey: Check out Tristan Nicholls, Design Leader at Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions. He'll give a 10-minute presentation on how you can electrify all of your home followed by questions and answers.

  • 2:50 PM – Solar and Storage - Day and Night: Chris Dearsley from Harrisons Solar, is sharing his personal experience with solar and will talk through battery storage and the benefits of installing a battery with solar and storage (day and night).

  • 3:10 PM – Everything you need to know about hot water pumps: Hear Ben Fechney, Senior Manager, Residential & Light Commercial from DAIKIN telling you everything you need to know about hot water heat pumps and related tech.

  • 3:30 PM – Spotlight on Solar and Batteries: Tom Stubbs, the owner operator of Think Solar Christchurch gets the last word on solar and batteries. You won't want to miss this session.

  • 3:50 PM – Local Innovators: Hear Dave Boot from EV City and Emma Barry from Inition talk about being pioneers in electric mobility, pushing the limits when others feared to.

Outside:

  • Outdoor Electrification Expo (All day) - A range of outdoor exhibitors including EV car dealerships, e-bike vendors, electric ATVs, an electric double-decker bus, a unique solar carport, electric waste management and more!

  • 10am-11am Ride the Runway - Since we're at the Airforce Museum, we've hired the runway! Folks of all ages are welcome to bring their wheels and have a hoon on the airstrip. Free for all, helmets required, a

  • 11.15pm-4.30pm Electric Vehicle Experiences - Take a ride in an electric vehicle thanks to the Christchurch EV Group and Tesla.

  • V2L Bouncy Castle (all day) - An EV powering a bouncy castle, come have a bounce!

  • Evolocity Circuit (all day) - Watch the Evolocity team demonstrate electric karts and bikes, inspiring young kiwis into sustainable engineering while fast forwarding New Zealand’s clean tech future.

The Electrify Christchurch Expo is a community-led effort, jointly organised by Electrify Christchurch, the Lyttelton Energy Transition Society (LETS), and Castle Hill Community Energy Project with support from Rewiring Aotearoa and an amazing team of volunteers.
