Description

Sunday 4 October | 10am–4pm | Waikanae Memorial Hall | Free entry

What if you could slash thousands off your annual power, gas and petrol bills — and help the planet while you're at it?

Kāpiti's dedicated electrification expo is bringing solar, home batteries, electric vehicles, e-bikes, hot water heat pumps, induction cooktops and more together under one roof. This is your chance to see the tech up close, compare your options side by side, and talk directly to the people who install, supply and use it every day.

Home energy technology has changed dramatically in just a few years. An average household has the potential to save over $3,000 across their home energy and transport costs — and many people don't realise how much is now within reach.

What's on the day:

Whether you're looking to cut your bills, get off gas, boost your home's resilience, or reduce your environmental footprint, there's something here for you.

  • Exhibitor stalls — solar, batteries, EVs, e-bikes, hot water heat pumps and more from local and national suppliers

  • Expert talks — hear from independent experts and community leaders on what works, what to watch for, and how to get started

  • Ask Me Anything lounge — skip the sales pitch and talk to real locals who've already gone electric. Honest advice on what they did, what they saved, and what they wish they'd known

  • Demonstrations — see electrification solutions in action

This is a community-led event organised by Electrify Kāpiti, with the support of Kāpiti Coast District Council, Green Van Solar, Electra, Lightforce Solar, Harrisons Solar, A2W Hot Water Heat Pumps, the Sustainability Trust and Energise Ōtaki. It's part of the Council's Sustainable Spring | He Kōanga Toitū 2026 programme — a series of fun and interactive sustainability workshops and events running from early September through late October.

This expo is completely free. Register to let us know you're coming and you'll be in the draw to win door prizes.
