Wrap Event: Creativity for Schools, 2024
Event description
Dear students, parents, artists and teachers,
You are cordially invited to the Wrap Event: Creativity for Schools 2024.
This program has supported creative learning projects and the development of creative learning practices in schools, by inviting six local schools to partner with professional Western Australian artists and creatives to connect and learn about creative processes. Each school has completed a ten-week residency with a WA artist, resulting in a range of visual arts outcomes in the schools.
Students from Aveley North Primary School learned from ceramicist Graham Hay and created a ceramic sculpture public artwork, Ellenbrook Secondary College worked with Claire Davenhall on a multicultural tile mosaic, Malvern Springs got creative with Tami Esancy and made some quirky Creative Creatures, Brabham Primary School hosted Trudy Hardman for tuition in ceramics and produced a series of delightful birds, Caversham Primary looked at Noongar symbols with Nicola Cowie, Kat Ferguson and local elder, Joanne Parfitt. Ellen Stirling Primary School took an in-depth approach to local wetlands fauna and flora with Angela Rossen, biodiversity specialist and arts educator.
We invite you to a celebratory wrap event where we will launch the documentary made by Paloma Jiménez Solarte, view a selection of some of the work created by students, and thank artists for their generous contribution to our program.
This program was funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and hosted by Ellenbrook Arts, with support from the City of Swan.
This is a family friendly event.
