Embedding a child safe culture
Event description
Strong leadership is essential for fostering a child safe culture.
As leaders in early childhood education and care (ECEC), approved providers and service leaders play an important role in championing and embedding child safe principles in their service and operations. By championing a child safe culture and modelling and enforcing child safe practices and behaviours, approved providers and service leaders can demonstrate that child abuse and harm will not be tolerated within their service.
This event will explore how approved providers and service leaders in ECEC can embed a culture in their service where child safety is promoted, prioritised and placed at the heart of all decisions and actions.
Attendees will hear from representatives from NSW Police, NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian and NSW Department of Communities and Justice and listen to a powerful testimony from a parent impacted by child abuse.
Their insights will highlight the importance of identifying, reporting and responding promptly and appropriately to all concerns, incidents and allegations relating to children’s safety.
Content warning: This event will include discussions of child abuse, including assault, physical or sexual abuse or grooming. Attendee discretion is advised. See information on resources and tools to support the wellbeing of ECEC professionals.
