Embodied Decolonisation: A Somatic Exploration

We talk a lot about regeneration, about right relationship, honouring cycles, working with living systems, moving beyond extraction. 
What happens when the patterns of the colonial system are still moving through us?
Can we regenerate without reproducing urgency, control, perfectionism, paternalism and extraction?

Together we can notice the patterns we carry, how they shape our ways of relating, leading, making change, and what becomes possible when we interrupt them.

Social Design Sydney hosted Kaia Hawkins for a short somatic inquiry in August, and she is inviting this community to participate in a 2-hour online class is a way to go deeper.

This 2-hour online class is a chance to explore that question through movement, attention, relationship and conversation. A moment to slow down enough to notice what we're carrying, interrupt what has become habitual, and experiment with what else might be possible.

Kaia is a is an Open Floor International Teacher, Manahau Embodied Movement founder+facilitator, artist, and mama. Shaped by both Māori and Pākehā whakapapa/ancestry, their work sits inside the tension of inheritance. Their teaching names how colonisation, dominance, and disconnection are held in the body, and uses movement as a site for resistance + re.pair, remembering, and re-indigenisation. These are not neutral spaces, they are politically aware, relational, and alive - inviting participants to meet themselves honestly, disrupt inherited patterns, and practice other ways of being together.
