WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The EmbodyBirth™ intimate two-day foundational workshop, taught by Maha Al Musa since 1997, is for anyone interested in embracing the principles of sacred birth.
Maha’s work aims to bring birth back home to mothers and babies, connecting deeply with their hearts, hands, wombs, and innate knowledge.
This workshop covers the four key areas of birth:
- Philosophy
- Psychology
- Physiology
- Practice - BellydanceBirth®
BellydanceBirth® is one of the core components of these conscious and sacred teachings.
It is the Dance of the Womb—an intuitive, feminine, grounded dance for pregnancy and birth.
Unlike the Western concept of belly dance, BellydanceBirth® is about mindful, meditative movement that helps access the inherent knowledge of womb birth.
Participants are encouraged to set aside Western perceptions of belly dance and embrace the cultural roots, wisdom, and birth instincts inherent in this practice.
Rather than learning choreography or specific steps, attendees will tap into the sacred childbirth body, reclaiming their voices and their connection with their babies.
The program honours and respects Maha's Palestinian/Lebanese heritage, moving away from a colonized, reductionist narrative. EmbodyBirth™ celebrates Indigenous birth practices and philosophies as living arts, passed down through maternal lineages from great-grandmothers to grandmothers to mothers, forming a legacy for our children and Humanity.

MAHA AL MUSA BIO:
Maha Al Musa is a dedicated mother to three wonderful children (now aged 27, 24, and 15), a doula, birth mentor, international educator, and the founder of EmbodyBirth™ and BellydanceBirth® since 1997.
She has created two award-winning resources: the pioneering book "Dance of the Womb" on Bellydance for birth, endorsed by Sheila Kitzinger, Dr. Michel Odent, Dr. Sarah Buckley, and NACE (Australia), and a follow-up video series that won the About.com Readers' Choice Award for Best Pregnancy Fitness Product. In 2011, she received the One World Birth Hero National Award.
Maha has been a keynote speaker at numerous birth conferences around the world, including the Shandong Midwifery Conference in China, the Human Rights in Childbirth Conference in India, and the Birth Keepers Summit in the USA.
She also offers an exceptional online pregnancy and birth preparation program, as well as the highly acclaimed EmbodyBirth™ online educator training certification, available as a self-paced or annually mentored course, along with other powerful resources.
