Event description

Embracing Reconciliation: Crafting Effective Action Plans

Facilitator: Jessica Staines, Director of Koori Curriculum

Join us for a practical and thought-provoking professional development workshop exploring Reconciliation as a dynamic verb. Led by Jessica Staines — a Wiradjuri woman, early childhood educator, and leading voice in inclusive practice — this session supports educators to move from reflection to meaningful action through their Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs).

Building on the wisdom that “those who fail to plan, plan to fail,” this workshop provides structure, clarity, and confidence for embedding reconciliation into everyday teaching and leadership. Together, we’ll unpack the 14 mandatory RAP actions, ensuring participants leave with a clear pathway forward and strategies that can be immediately implemented in their educational settings.

What You’ll Learn

  • Create effective deliverables: Develop clear, measurable actions for your RAP.

  • Acknowledge Country meaningfully: Facilitate authentic Acknowledgements that honour connection to Country.

  • Integrate First Nations perspectives: Learn respectful and genuine ways to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices in your curriculum.

  • Build cultural responsiveness: Strengthen your team’s understanding through professional learning and reflection.

  • Celebrate and sustain progress: Plan events, evaluate outcomes, and embed reconciliation across policies, curriculum, and community relationships.

What to Bring

Jessica will guide participants through creating their RAP, identifying gaps in existing RAPs, celebrating wins, and refining next steps.

You’ll leave with:
