EMDR Therapy: Cognitive to Cosmic Interweaves

    Abstract

The Presentation focuses on the emergence of awakening as the EMDR therapist becomes a tool of consciousness, moving client from trauma to highest potential. Literature and research explain this evolutionary perspective converging with science and spirituality. EMDR will be explained with specific attention given to transpersonal “cosmic” interweaves and resourcing integrated into the preparation phase of the EMDR protocol for emotional stabilization, resource development, and ego integration, supporting a transformational process of awakening. Tools are woven throughout the 8 stages of EMDR Therapy, applying to past, present, and future inherent in the Adaptive Information Processing model. The client has the potential to move from maladaptive functioning to adaptive functioning and reaching beyond to exceptional human functioning within a full spectrum psychological model.
If we blend EMDR therapy, which targets neuro-networks corresponding to stored information related to unprocessed trauma, with ancient healing energy based traditions which recognize that corresponding patterns are held in the energy field, we are forging new territory in the creation of an emerging integrative therapeutic model where EMDR therapy is fertile ground for a transpersonal approach. EMDR therapy can bridge the egoic and the trans-egoic experience for both therapist and client, extending the range of healing trauma through expanded awareness and evolving consciousness, changing the context and content of healing. This integrative approach accesses expanded ranges of awareness through mindfulness and resonance for client and therapist within a shared energy field, healing energy patterns in the subtle field and cellular memory in the body. Transpersonal skills and qualities will be discussed as the therapist uses internal intuitive skills based in internal focusing. Case examples and experiential exercise awakens therapists’ intuitive skills, integrating ancient healing practices with EMDR therapy for client awakening and accelerated transformation. EMDR training is not required and tools presented can be applied to other treatment approaches.
