Event description

What is the minimum scale at which fossil infrastructures can operate? What discontinuities should we expect? What is the role of planning and coordination as energy infrastructures change, while providing crucial services for everyone?

Transitioning from a mostly fossil to a fully non-fossil energy system requires managing intricate interactions between two sets of infrastructure not designed to work well together.

In our July webinar, Associate Professor Emily Grubert (University of Notre Dame, USA) will discuss the complexity of the energy transition, exploring the reliability, cost and culture risks arising at this critical moment of change.

ABOUT EMILY GRUBERT

Dr. Emily Grubert is Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy Policy, and, concurrently, of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. Her research focuses on justice-oriented deep decarbonisation and decision support tools for large infrastructure systems. Grubert holds a Ph.D. in Environment and Resources from Stanford.
