Event description

Emily-Rose Sharkova is one of Australia’s most vivacious musical chameleons. From performing classical piano in French cathedrals and klezmer accordion across Poland, to playing tango on bandoneon in Buenos Aires and funk keyboards at the infamous Pineapple Lounge, Woodfordia, there isn’t much music Emily-Rose hasn’t explored.

Compared to the likes of Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, Emily-Rose’s songs and soundscapes are a kaleidoscope dream of contemporary folk, where songwriting meets jazz, tinged with all the many ‘world’ musics she finds herself inspired by. Her own music weaves her voice together with piano, synths and accordion, taking shape inside her many projects such as Emily-Rose & The Wild Things, Little Clouds and Slow Streams.

Most recently a finalist for the prestigious Art Music Awards for Best Jazz Work, and an ARIA nominated musician, Emily-Rose’s music is always thoughtful and highly crafted. Her latest escapades find her collaborating with Toronto based producer and multi-instrumentalist Jaron Freeman-Fox in their global prog band Shark & Fox as well as cavorting with chamber folk group The Good Behaviours and improvised duo Szinata.

To celebrate the release of her album 'Upon These Open Skins' on double vinyl, Emily-Rose is doing a series of intimate solo concerts in beautiful spaces.

Doors open at 2pm for a 2:30pm start.
