Emily Ulman is back with her first new music in a decade and she’s got stories to tell (some of them sung, all of them true-ish). Preview songs from her upcoming album, filled with tender chaos, sharp turns of phrase, and melodies that sneak up on you when you’re just trying to sip your drink.
Joining her is Alec Ilyine, a classically trained guitarist with a background in jazz, fingerpicking, and experimental composition. Drawing on everything from Bach to Bert Jansch, Alec’s playing is intuitive, cinematic, and deeply felt. He makes space as much as he fills it, crafting soundscapes that are at once intricate and spare. A long-time collaborator and constant creative force, Alec brings a sense of depth and ease that holds the whole evening together.
Together they’ll serve up an evening of guitar-driven charm, and at least one moment where world feels just a little softer.
