Emotional Trigger Writing Workshop
Description
Join us for the Emotional Trigger Writing Workshop: discover your triggers and how to deal with them.
We all have hot buttons: a tone of voice, a comment, a moment that sets us off before we've had a chance to think. In this session, an experienced consultant shows you how to spot your own emotional triggers as they happen. You'll learn what's going on in your brain when you're triggered: how the amygdala sounds the alarm, why your body reacts before your reasoning catches up, and why simply knowing about a trigger isn't enough to change how you respond.
Then we pick up the pen. Through guided creative writing exercises, you'll turn a real triggering moment into a story. You'll step outside it, see it from another character's point of view, and write a different ending. Research shows that naming and narrating emotions calms the brain's stress response and builds the reflective distance we need to respond rather than react.
You'll leave with a clearer map of your triggers, a simple writing practice you can use any time, and a new way of seeing the stories you tell yourself.
No writing experience needed. Just bring a notebook and an open mind.
