    Event description

The power of our empathy knows no limits. It makes us strong, builds our social connections and creates communities. It can also feel damn good, what a rush. For Albert Schweitzer it was the purpose of human life, Meryl Streep says it’s ‘our greatest gift’ and Carl Rogers calls it ‘the most potent force for change’.

We're thrilled to be partnering with AJ Tennant to bring you The Empathy Gym; 10 workshops over 5 weeks where you'll drop in to build your empathy muscles in day- to-day life and learn to hold boundaries while giving care to others and championing kindness.

AJ Tennant is a facilitator and communication expert with extensive experience as a storyteller and speechwriter for agencies, charities and government. He helps passionate changemakers find their creativity and shape their stories. He’s taught ethics, trained activists to talk to the media and written on regenerative leadership.

Learn what empathy is and what sets it apart from sympathy, kindness or compassion and train together in self-empathy and self-care, developing presence and listening, holding space and supporting those in need while getting the empathy we need in return.

Sessions will be every Monday (7-8pm) and every Friday (12-1pm) for five weeks starting from April 18. You are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. Every week is a new workshop with new learnings and exercises (Friday will repeat Monday's workshop for those who want to reinforce their practice).

This event will take place via Zoom with details to be emailed out prior to commencement.
