Welcome to Work Ready Kāpiti's first #EmployerMeet for 2023!
Online registrations have closed for this event, however YOU CAN STILL COME ALONG - please email hello@workreadykapiti.co.nz, or come along to KYS at 5.15pm to register on your arrival. We would love to see you there!
This is a FREE event open to all Kāpiti youth between the ages of 15-24yrs, aimed at supporting you to become work ready by practising interview skills and connecting you to local industry.
What: A "speed-meet" styled evening where you can connect with local businesses and discuss your skills, experience and plans for the future, and gain tips on becoming employed in their field. The event offers valuable interview practise and the chance to make connections, as well as free pizza!
Where: KYS - Kāpiti Youth Support, 15 Tutanekai Street, Paraparaumu.
When: Thursday 23rd March, 2023, 5:15pm-7:30pm.
Who: All Kāpiti youth between the ages of 15-24yrs are welcome to register and attend - for free.
How to book:
1. Scroll down this page to read about the awesome employers who are attending.
2. When you're ready to book, simply hit "Get Tickets" to choose your employers and time slots - easy as!
3. You will receive a confirmation email after booking, and a list of your bookings at the event.
Tip: when you're selecting your tickets, all your bookings will show on the right hand column so you can check you haven't doubled up with anyone or any time slots. Captured By Friday Photography with Joanna Piatek: Award winning photographer Joanna Piatek's work is informed by her journalism background, creating story through image. Interest and skill areas: Photography, writing, creativity, self employment, image making. Joanna is currently recruiting for an assistant.
Fun Zone After School Care and Holiday Programme with Samantha Chambers and Sasha Pue: Fun Zone work with children aged 5-14yrs at a range of sites across Kāpiti, before and after school during the term, and through the school holidays when they often visit local facilities for extra fun, such as swimming pools, the zoo, and bowling. Interest and skill areas: childcare, primary, early childhood, teaching, creativity, community, education, nannying.
Goodmans Contractors with Colin Landy and Geoff Cooke: Goodmans is a civil construction company working on projects such as roading, quarries, wind farms, rail, stop banks and emergency works. Interest and skill areas: Earthmoving, mechanical, big machines, civil construction, excavation, engineering, drainlaying.
Graeme Wright & Associates with Tom Naylor: Graeme Wright and Associates is a chartered accountancy firm, helping business owners grow their business and keep them compliant. Interest and skill areas: accounting, business, numbers, business compliance, chartered accountants, economics, finance.
Kāpiti File Management Centre with Katherine Farquhar: The File Management Centre processes non-emergency online (Police) reports, prepares court documents, transcribes files and other administrative tasks to support frontline officers and our communities, and offers the potential for further career development. Interest and skill areas: Data entry, administration, transcription, document preparation, community, police support, digital and computer, file management.
Kiwibank with Andrew Robb: Kiwibank is a New Zealand state-owned banking and financial services provider and offer a wide range of job roles from customer service, IT, corporate finance and more. Interest and skill areas: customer service, finance, economics, money handling, computing, investment, administration, data entry, communication, numeracy, business.
Landlink with Paul Turner: Landlink are surveyors, engineers and planners dealing with land subdivision, integrating urban planning with the needs of communities. Interest and skill areas: land surveying, town planning, urban development, landscape architecture, civil design and engineering, construction planning, geography, earth sciences, maths, physics, community growth. Landlink are currently recruiting for surveyers (technicians).
New World Waikanae with Richmond Lee: New World Waikanae offer a wide range of opportunities from your first job through to a full career, such as checkout operators, shop assistants, store staff, deli assistants, produce assistants and online delivery drivers. Interest and skill areas: supermarket, food and stock management, product display, retail, food handling and preparation, delivery driving, checkout and customer service. New World Waikanae are currently recruiting.
New Zealand Defence Force with SGT Ani Heta and FS Warren: New Zealand’s Defence Force (NZDF) is the Navy, Army, and Air Force, with over 100 roles from emergency and disaster relief, peacekeeping, combat training, to administration and logistics, needing flight attendants, medics, mechanics, chefs, and so much more. Interest and skill areas: armed forces, army, navy, air force, trades, logistics, intelligence, fitness, community, defence, reserves, limited service volunteer, peacekeeping and more. NZDF are currently recruiting.
New Zealand Police with Ngametua Meti: There are many areas in the Police organisation to work, either as sworn officers or non-sworn employees, from frontline policing, to support staff such as dispatchers, emergency call-takers, authorised officers, intelligence officers and many more. Interest and skill areas: law enforcement, emergency calls, intelligence, administration, customer service, community, fitness, social services. NZ Police are currently recruiting.
Police 105 Non-Emergency Centre with Craig Griffiths: Police 105 Communicators use their training to identify the needs of callers, document the details of situations and ensure callers receive the appropriate Police response. Other roles at Kāpiti’s Non-Emergency centre include File Managers and more. Interest and skill areas: community, call centre, non-emergency, NZ Police, communication, team work, data entry, administration, record management. Police 105 are currently recruiting.
Pzazz Building with Rudy van Vlerken: Pzazz covers all aspects of building such as bathroom and kitchen renovations, home extensions and additions as well as new homes and buildings. Interest and skill areas: Building, construction, renovations, kitchen and bathroom installations, trades, carpentry, business.
Whitecliffe College - Wellington Campus with Yatika Pathak - Whitecliffe are a tertiary education provider with their Wellington campus specialising in Information Technology and Fashion Technology studies. Interest and skill areas: Tertiary training, fashion, sustainability, information technology, creativity, study.
YouX with Adam King: YouX ('you-ex') are both a technical and design agency specialising in digital design, software development, user experience design, website design and development, and helping SMB and Startups. Interest and skill areas: IT, website design, digital design, software development, user experience design, technical, computers, coding.
Intelligensia with Jan Thornborough: Intelligensia works with small business leaders to develop customised, cyber resilience plans aligned to achieve their business objectives. Jan is passionate about her business and supporting rangatahi too - winning the Most Committed Employer of Youth Award at Work Ready Kāpiti’s 2022 Annual Awards. Interest and skill areas: Cyber security, IT, business, information security, complex problem solving, processes, people skills and communication.
