Empowering supervisors in working with non-English speaking candidates: examples from practice
Event description
Presented by Professor Santosh Jatrana, James Cook University and Dr Susan Gasson, during this interactive webinar participants will be introduced to a six-phase tool, alongside real-life practical examples, aimed at empowering the supervision of students from non-English speaking countries. Data indicates that the majority of overseas students in Australia are from non-English speaking countries, highlighting the value of building supervisory practices in relation to this cohort. This resource draws upon Professor Jatrana’s extensive track record in the successful supervision of such students, and Susan's expertise as an HDR manager and researcher developer. The presentation is based their co-authored Chapter in the open access edited book Confident Supervisors.
