Domestic and Family Violence: How we are all part of the solution

Rosie Batty’s horrific story of her sons death at the hands of his father shone the  spotlight on domestic violence. In this session you will hear about:

- One woman’s story of intergenerational abuse,

- The impact of societies patriarchal structure, childhood imitative behaviours,  workplace bullying and harassment

- What governments and charities are doing to tackle these complex problems.

The key to making headway is developing emotional intelligence, respectful inter-communication skills and learning how to respond rather than react.

Behaviour change programs for men have been emerging, and while there is currently no where near enough support for victims, we also need to put more resources into prevention.

We can all play a part such as calling out inappropriate behaviours, creating safe spaces to listen, and have education programs not just for future generations but before relationships reach crisis point.

At this panel discussion you will hear from:

- Rosie Batty, AO & Co-Chair of White Ribbon Australia

- Janelle Parsons, author of House of Shadows

- Kathleen Hope, General Manager, SunnyKids

- Naomi Todd, Domestic Violence Action Centre & HR Consultant

- Karen Marsh, Mens Domestic Violence Counsellor.

Let’s break the cycle of Domestic and Family Violence together.
