Event description

'En Plein Air' is a french term meaning to paint outside. Think Monet, Van Gogh and the work of their fellow master impressionist painters.
Painting the landscape while immersed in its very elements is an incredibly beautiful experience. It requires us to connect with nature, see beauty where we haven't seen it before, and can bring back a sense of the 'sacred' to ones creative practice. Many say painting in nature feels much like meditation due to the level of presence and solitude required, it really is bliss. Come join me for a full day of painting and drawing, reconnecting with nature, and learning how to delight in the land and light a little more.

I would like to acknowledge that we will be meeting on the traditional country of the Dharawal people, and pay my respects to indigenous Elders past and present. I acknowledge, respect and honour the unique spiritual connection our indigenous people have to country, and the sacred site that is present at Sandon Point (Wangewarra).

The Day:
From 2:00 - 7:00pm

Part 1:

We'll be beginning in my studio, at The Timbermill to learn:
- Basic composition, tone and colour theory
- Approaches to landscape painting
- Completing some small studies, & sketches together.
- Developing personal style

Part 2:

-We'll be moving to Sandon Point to paint the extraordinary south Sydney coast line during sunset.
Here, we'll explore ways in which we can connect with the environment, become explorers of the world around us, and play with new ways of 'seeing.'

-We'll then split around the headland to our separate painting points (where ever you feel most drawn to) where I'll be visiting each student to give one on one advice, and teaching.
